Coming soon!!! RED TAPE, my new sexy romantic suspense novel, is due for release August 3rd. This is Book one in my new FLC series. I had to share a sneak peek blurb and excerpt.

Blackmail, coercion and undercover sex scandals are meticulously devised by the FLC, a secret society in the White House. When ex-CIA agents, Zoe and Jason, agree to put their damaged pasts behind them to manipulate a sadistic leader, Jason must train his ex-lover for her role as a submissive in a dangerous BDSM sex tape project. But the bondage aspect of the plan takes their relationship on an emotional and sensual ride mixed with heartache, second chances and love. Life unravels when their target discovers the plan and devises one of his own. And it appears Zoe has betrayed Jason and her country. Can he protect the woman he can’t live without from one of the deadliest enemies?

EXCERPT: (Jason and Zoe, two ex-lovers and ex-CIA agents, are trapped inside a closet while a controversial bondage scene is taking place in the adjoining room. Zoe is peeking through the cracks of the door frame.)

The implications of what was going on in this room were beyond imagining. If the public found out about this, what would happen to this administration? The peace talks? This was more damaging than a stained blue dress. This was a nightmare.
Jason touched her shoulder. His fingers slowly skimmed down to her upper arm, where he grasped her and tugged her closer. Outside, the bondage ordeal continued. Red marks crisscrossed the man’s back and buttocks. She’d seen enough. Jason’s other hand slipped to her waist. He leaned into her. Warmth, hardness, and the scent of male. She shouldn’t be so turned on. The hairs on her arms stood up. Her breasts felt heavy, and her nipples grew tight. What was Jason thinking? After all this time, he wanted to get busy with her in a closet? Really?
She pulled away and tapped a “no” on his arm.
He tapped “yes” on her hand and slowly turned her around, pulling her against his body. God, he felt good. So many nights she’d imagined Jason in her arms like this. She had to control her breathing to keep from making any noise. The real torment was being trapped inside the closet. Sex with Jason had always been the hottest when they were on a mission. Why couldn’t they have sex and a relationship like normal people?
They didn’t know how to do day-to-day. Everything they once had came tumbling back. She wanted him again, wanted to give in with complete and utter abandon. Her body was on fire, throbbing, needing him now at the wrong place, the wrong—
In the next room, a flogger or cane smacked what sounded like bare, taut skin in quick repetition. The man cried out.
“Do you want me to stop?”
“No, Mistress, more, please.” Another sharp crack sent shivers up Zoe’s spine. How could he stand the pain, let alone enjoy it?
Jason’s warm, moist mouth pressed on her ear, her neck, and she sucked in a little breath. His tongue drew a line to the hollow of her throat.
Yes, she ached to say, yes. Jason’s touch was torture, sweet, sweet torture. She gave in a little, pressing her sex against his hard shaft bulging beneath his pants. She did want him but not here, not now.
On his arm, she tapped “no.”
He hesitated long enough for her to wish she had said “yes.” After all these months, they’d barely had enough time to say hello and already they couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Nothing had changed. He rested his forehead against hers, and she heard his intake of breath and a long sigh. Outside, Melissa shouted orders, and the man groaned. Jason pressed his lips to Zoe’s ear and barely mouthed, “I want you.”
Then why did you leave me?
Outside their closet, in the dungeon, voices and the smacking got louder. Inside, Jason pulled her against his chest and stroked her hair. She breathed in his scent, and time slipped away to the many heated nights he’d held her close. He knew how to draw out every exquisite sensation with his touch. Before she got too worked up, she backed away, slowly because she didn’t want to knock into anything in the tiny closet. The sex party going on was so loud, Zoe doubted they would have heard anything.
His hands slid around her waist, holding her captive. “Sorry. Missed you.” His words tore through her, ripping her heart in half. If he wanted to continue where they left off, she couldn’t.
She leaned toward his ear. “Missed me? You’ll have to do better than that.”
His mouth came down on hers, and she sensed his hunger, felt her own heating up her body. His tongue slid across hers, drawing the passion from deep in her core. Her hands reached up along his hard chest, moved up and around his head, where she tangled her fingers in his hair. She resisted the urge to spread her legs. To encourage him would only make their situation more difficult.
Clinging to him, she gave in this time and melted deeper into the kiss. She couldn’t fight him here. His hand reached under her skirt and slipped inside her panty hose. Her sex was so wet, he easily parted her folds and thrust a finger inside her channel. With a silent gasp, Zoe broke away from the kiss and lifted up on her toes. He steadied her against his body. Matching his thrusts to the rhythm of groans and strikes outside the closet, she rode his hand closer to orgasm.
On impulse, she reached for his cock. The hard ridge bulged against his pants, and she pressed the heel of her palm along his length until she heard his intake of breath. The roughness of his hand rubbed her clit. Heat and throbbing intensified, coiling deep, bringing her to the edge of release. Yes! She wanted to scream and tell him not to stop, but it was sweet torture having to remain silent. Almost there.
“Did you enjoy yourself?” Zoe heard the first lady say. She pulled her hand away from Jason’s cock at the same time he slipped out of her pantyhose. Her body continued to throb, her vagina clenching at empty space and aching. When she peeked out through the crack in the door, the first lady had already slipped on her robe.
“Very much,” the male guest answered. “I must say this type of American hospitality was unexpected.”
“Our pleasure.” She handed him his clothing, and the man finished dressing. “Secret Service will escort you to your car.”
“Thank you.”
The group left. The man in black was the last to leave, switching the lights off and closing the door. Again, Jason and Zoe were surrounded in blackness.
“Now what?” Zoe whispered.
“We wait a few minutes.”
The walls of the closet closed in. “You want to tell me now or later?”
“About what went on out there, or about us in here?”
“Either, both.” She leaned against the door and crossed her arms. “You leave Langley without a word months ago, and then you end up here, like me. Funny coincidence. You act like nothing ever happened.”
“Not a coincidence. You were handpicked for a project, like I was.”
“What project?”
He hesitated. “You’ll be briefed soon, but I suggest you don’t take this job.”
She groaned. “Why would I be briefed about someone’s sexual activities?”
He cleared his throat and took a breath. “Zoe.” His voice softened. “You should leave before you learn any more.”
“Learn about what?” She laughed. “I don’t know anything except the first lady might be a sex addict. Oh God. Does the president know?”
He groaned. “Zoe, quit your job, resign. Go back to Langley.”
She shoved at his chest. “I can’t go back.”

Holy Heaven. She would never take a bath for granted again.
Violet stumbled on the stairs and the contents of the heavy bucket sloshed, dousing her with hot water. She sucked in a breath as pain seared. She set the bucket on the landing and pulled her skirts up. Her skin was red. She ruffled the tatters of her petticoats, waiting for the sting to subside.
The door to the Laird’s solar swung open. She stepped back so it wouldn’t hit her and it slammed into the wall. The McCloud glowered down at her. His gaze stalled on her bare legs. It was riveted—until she dropped her skirts—then he snapped, “What the hell is taking so long?” His glanced back at her damp skirts and his frown darkened. He picked up the last bucket and carried it to the tub, dumping it in himself. “For god’s sake. How long does it take to bring a few measly buckets up from the kitchen?”
A few measly buckets? It had taken twelve trips, each with a bucket that weighed near as much as she. Violet glared at him. “Is that enough?” She probably didn’t need to clip the words quite so much but she had already worked for hours. She was tired and sweaty and her skin ached and Morna was waiting for her to come help prepare dinner.
He swished his hand in the water. “Yes. I suppose that will do.”
Not a thank you. Not a smile. Nothing.
She whirled and started for the door.
“Where do you think you’re going?” His voice rumbled, a deep tenor. Her steps slowed.
“Back to the kitchen.” She frowned at him over her shoulder. “I have work to do.”
“You have work to do here.”
“I beg your pardon?” What did he want her to do now, wash his bottom?
“You’re going to bathe me.”
Her heart stilled at his words, his intent, and especially his expression. “Wh-what?”
“Come now, Violet. The laird of the manor can’t be expected to scrub his own back, can he now? Be a good girl, close the door and come over here.”
She gaped at him. Gaped. He expected her to remain in a room with a naked man? He expected her to touch him?
“Close your mouth. You look like a trout.”
“But…I c-can’t. I can’t b-bathe you.”
“You can. And you will.” His eyes glimmered with something other than humor. The unspoken threat hummed in the stony chamber. “You may want to turn around while I undress, unless you want an early education.” He began to unbutton his shirt.
With an undignified eep, Violet whirled and showed him her back until she heard the splash and his gusty sigh.
“All right, girl. Get to work. Scrub my back.” He gestured to a chunk of soap and a sponge on a small table. She picked them up, approached the tub and knelt behind him, trying not to stare at the bunching muscles, the broad expanse of tanned skin. She couldn’t help but notice it was covered with scars. Long and short, crisscrossing over one another. As though he’d been brutally beaten and lashed time after time after—“Did you close the door?”
Her bubbling sympathy evaporated in a rush. She stuck her tongue out at him, but only because he couldn’t see. Then, with a heavy sigh, she levered herself off the floor and closed the door. Well, slammed it.
His chuckle annoyed her more.
He leaned forward and peeped at her over his shoulder. “Come along now. My back isn’t going to scrub itself.”
She took her place behind him again, being very careful not to look at his broad, be-furred chest as she approached. She wet the soap and sponge and created a lather. Being very careful not to touch him, she began to scour his back. He winced. “Not so hard.”
His plaintive tone probably shouldn’t have sent a shard of evil satisfaction through her, but it did. This man had been a boor to her from the moment he’d found her on the floor in Callum MacAllister’s cottage. She dug deeper.
He lurched forward. “Ouch!”
“Hold still,” she muttered, making a wide swath across the ridged skin. “You’re filthy. I need to scrub.”
“I am not filthy.”
“You are. Stop wriggling.”
Amazingly, he did, though her efforts bordered on abuse. But my, it felt good.
When she started on his neck and ears, he caught her wrist. “All right. I think that’s enough.”
“I’m not done.”
“Oh, you’re not done.” He tugged her around to the side of the tub so she faced him. She focused on his crooked nose, schooled her attention not to drift lower. “Now it’s time for you to scrub my front.”
She really disliked his tone. There was mischief—and something much darker—coiling in there. “Fine.” She dropped to her knees and wet the sponge again, but rather than dunking it, merely skimmed the surface of the water.
Fortunately the bath was murky, so she couldn’t see anything. But she knew what was down there and she didn’t want to find it by accident. She trained her attention on his chest, and her heart lurched.
A long, nasty scar scored him. Like a puckered lightning bolt, it made its jagged way from his left nipple down to his belly. Her pulse skittered. Her breath snagged in her throat. She’d only ever seen a scar like that once before.
A scar exactly like that.
Her gaze snapped back to his face. She looked at him. Really looked at him, perhaps for the first time. Her mouth went dry. The gray eyes laced by thick black lashes. The broad, smiling mouth. The curve of his jaw.
It couldn’t be. Could it?
“W-where did you get that scar?”
He glanced down and stilled. Annoyance flickered across his features. “Every man has scars.”
“Not-not like that.” She sat back on her haunches. She didn’t realize she was squeezing the sponge until water seeped through her skirts.
“All right. A knife fight.”
“Knives don’t cut like that.” It was uneven and rippled, as though the flesh and been shorn off in places and sliced in others.
“Well, it was a goddamn knife fight. I was in a vicious battle with a man in an alley. I gutted him.” His lip curled into a sneer. “Does it frighten you, my lady?”
“No.” But that was a lie. It did frighten her. Because Ewan, her friend, the boy who had saved her, had gotten an eerily similar wound rescuing her from a watery grave. And surely this wasn’t Ewan. It couldn’t be.
Ewan was gentle and sweet. He had liked her, maybe loved her. He had kissed her. And this man… This man had taken her prisoner and mauled her and put her to work.
And she hated him.
He couldn’t be Ewan. He couldn’t. It would break her heart.
“Goddamn it, girl, finish washing me. The water’s getting cold,” he barked
But she couldn’t. She needed to know. She had to know.
“It wasn’t a knife. It was ice.” A whisper, but he heard it. He froze, his gaze locked to hers. “You jumped in and found me in the water. Lifted me out. But you couldn’t get out yourself.”
“I don’t know what you’re babbling about.”
But he did. She could see it in his eyes. There, for a flash of an instant, she saw that boy in his eyes.
She licked suddenly dry lips. “Ewan? Is it you?”
He rose from the tub in an unholy rush. She didn’t have time to glanced away. The vision of his naked body, hard and lean, scarred and perfect, burned on her brain. He grabbed a cloth and covered his loins.
“This bath is over. Get out.”
She stood. Tried desperately not to tremble. “It is you. It is.”
“Get out. Go!”
“What happened to you, Ewan?”
A dark cloud lowered on his already stormy brow. “What happened to me? You mean how did I become the beast that I am?” The vitriol in his voice made her shake, but she didn’t back down.
“No, Ewan. Where did you go? No one would tell me and I always wondered…”
Every muscle in his body tensed, vibrated. Violet knew, because she could see them all, a magnificent panoply.
She should have been afraid. She should have been horrified. She should have skittered away like a frightened little rabbit. But she wasn’t afraid. She didn’t run.
She knew—knew—her Ewan would never hurt her.
Indeed, as he stared at her, his fury passed. He scrubbed a palm over his broad face. “Go,” he croaked. His tone was laced with an emotion she couldn’t decipher. Desolation? Greif? “Just go.”
This time, she did.

My Wicked Writing Process—A Crazy Writing Adventure #amwriting

Wicked or wild or weird. Not sure how you would describe my writing process, or creative process. I write erotic romance. Some contemporary, paranormal, and BDSM. Many writers have shared their writing process during this blog tour. They've shared the inside scoop and answered questions about how they go about creating the stories they do. I decided to share mine too.

It’s different for every author. Some are pansters (just sit down and jump into a story with a vague idea), others are plotters (outline in detail, write synopses of the complete book with character sketches before they start), and then there are the hybrid authors, like me, who do a little of both. My friend A.C. James posted her Writing Process last week. Check hers out . She has a crazy process too as most writers do.

If you look into my writing process, you may be taking a walk on the dark side. After all, I write BDSM and paranormal romance.

What am I working on? I’m working on a couple exciting projects right now. Come join the Facebook page to learn more about one huge project:

While you’re there please LIKE my Facebook fan page:

I have an erotic vampire romance submitted to my editor at Ellora’s Cave titled Nightlord Lover. I’m planning for it to be the first in a new erotic paranormal series. I’m also working on the next erotic contemporary/BDSM book in my Dark Odyssey series following Summer Sins.

My other big news is I’ll have a new release coming out, release date TBA soon, titled Red Tape. It’s the start of a new erotic suspense series called Secret Deceptions. A bit darker and edgier than my Ellora’s Cave books, fair warning. J

How does my work differ from others of its genre? Many of my stories tend to be ‘mashups’ where there are combinations of subgenres. My Demons in Exile series have demons, shapeshifters, a little sci fi and urban fantasy mixed in. My contemporary Dark Odyssey series has BDSM and ménage stories. And I also write erotic romance with suspense.

Why do I write what I do? I write what I enjoy reading. I was a huge science fiction and paranormal reader before I was a romance reader (still am). And I love reading thrillers, mystery and spy novels. I also love erotic contemporary books and the intensity of the romances within those stories.

My Writing Space (when organized)

How does your writing process work? Process? If you can call it that. It’s not always linear because I’m usually working on a few projects at the same time like now. My strategy (goal) is to be organized, focused and write faster. I brainstorm, make a brief outline using Michael Hauge’s outline, write, revise/edit, rewrite, rewrite, rewrite, submit to my editor, revise according to the editors recommendations and publish…then move on to the next project.

My key three points for a successful writer: Attitude, motivation and persistence in my opinion. Craft and sitting down and writing every day and doing the work too! Oh, and reading in and out of my genre. It’s a great escape but also a subconscious learning tool.

How to Get Media Attention for Your Books

Get Media Attention with Indie Source!

Media attention, reviews, visibility, expanding the reader base are a few things every author wants, or should want for their career. Last month I wrote a blog post about How I Got Interviewed by the Chicago Tribune. That post had a lot of hits and gave some helpful step by step tips.

Someone on Good Books Today  saw that blog post link on Twitter, read it then contacted me about doing an interview. A point here is: blogs and social media do work if you post decent content. (I’m still learning about how to write good blog content.)

Media attention, reviews, visibility and expanded readership rarely happen overnight. If you haven’t already done so, make files for contacts for review sites in your genre, media contacts, bloggers, etc. As you develop professional relationships and network, add to these lists. So when your next book comes out, you can contact them in an organized and methodical way. Save yourself time and headaches. Be courteous of your contacts' time. Offer to give something in return when possible. Exchange sources with other authors. See who they’re getting reviewed by, interviewed by, who they advertise with, etc.

Understand your brand as a writer. Who is your target audience? Focus your attentions there. (If you write erotic contemporary romance, don’t spend your time advertising or asking for interviews on YA or paranormal blogs). Search out events in your community where you could do speaking engagements, appearances and book signings, contact local newspapers and radio.

Check out my interview at Good Books Today for more tips mentioned in the interview like:
·        - Creating a good hook to get “buzz” about your book
·         -Learn how to write a good press release
·         -When contacting media, don’t tell them you wrote a great book. They won’t care. Find a great hook that may relate to your book, your brand and will entertain, educated or help their audience.

Features reviews for Romance, Sci-fi, General Fiction, YA, Children’s, Mystery/Thrillers/Paranormal, and non-fiction. Offers Free Kindle books and bargain books and offers promotion and advertising ops.

Perpetual Spring Break, Who’s Ready For Some Tropical Fun? #erotic romance #menage

You don’t have to be a college student to enjoy
Spring Break

When you hear Spring Break do you think of college students going a little wild and crazy by some tropical resort? What about those of us who’ve been out of college for years or even have our own kids in college? Don’t we deserve some fun in the sun? A Spring Break of our own where we can get a little wild without feeling guilty? Now that winter is finally heading out and the snow is almost melting, cabin fever has taken its toll and a vacation on a tropical beach with a hunky guy, or two, sounds inviting.

This is partly the idea that went into writing my novella SPRING BREAK, part of the Dark Odyssey series. I used to live in south Florida, one of the hot spots of Spring Break. I remember it well. The beaches and hotels were crammed with young people partying and enjoying the beach and sun. Parking was a premium. Even my secret out of the way parking places I knew as a resident were no longer available.

Loud music and skimpy suits roamed the beaches, wet tee shirt contests, hotdog eating contests, hunky guy contests, etc. were just part of the activities. Fancy sports cars cruised up and down the Fort Lauderdale strip. People young and old on bikes and rollerblades wove in and out of traffic. Occasionally, yes, people got hurt or sick but for the most part, it was all fun.

Then the beaches turned serene again.

I looove the beach!! A few of my favorite beaches are: Any beach in Florida, South Florida or on the west coast. Key West is amazing. Ocean City, Maryland, and the Caribbean islands are favorites. And I also love the beaches of Cape Cod. As a kid I spent many summers on the Cape and still go up and visit there.

Cape Cod beach

So are you ready for a tropical vacation? Where is your favorite beach spot?

If you can’t make it to the beach just yet, try a virtual Spring Break with my novella. Here’s the blurb:

Spring break beyond your wildest fantasies? Justin Watkins and Mariko Maguire abandon prior work commitments for one wickedly lustful evening--a one-night stand of kinky sex at an invitation only fetish club in South Florida. Why not go a little wild since they'll never see each other again? Carter Bosworth is looking for an evening of sex games during his layover in the tropical playground. He's a regular at TropiX and always open for a new thrill. His plans are sidetracked, but it may be to his benefit after all when he meets the beautiful Mariko. The potent heat developing between Justin and Mariko tempts her into shedding her inhibitions, and an exploration in a menage beyond her imagination develops at the fetish club. But can Justin and Mariko find love after a one-night stand?
A steamy ménage in the sultry tropics of South Florida among an unlikely threesome.
