Witch Hunter, A New Erotic Paranormal Romance by Shari Nichols

WITCH HUNTER by Shari Nichols

I met Shari at the NJRW conference and we had a great chat. She's a sweetheart. She's also a fellow lover of paranormal books! I'm sure you'll love her new book Witch Hunter

BLURB: Determined MBI (Magickal Bureau of investigations)agent Alex Denopoulos will stop at nothing to catch a killer, including recruit notorious felon, Willow McCray to work for the agency. The lines between duty and passion become blurred the more time he spends with the sultry witch. In the midst of the investigation, they succumb to the dark edges of desire, placing both their lives in danger. Alex will risk more than his badge to keep her alive.
Kick-ass witch Willow must use her powers for good if she wants to stay out of Hellios, a mage prison for those who have broken the Wiccan Rede of ‘Harm ye None.’ Willow never expects to fall so hard for Alex, a mortal with a penchant for justice and a deep seated hatred of witches. Though a future together seems impossible, she doesn’t want to let him go. Can she vanquish the evil surrounding them and give Alex her mind and body before she loses her heart and maybe her soul?

EXCERPT: Willow took a sip of her margarita and glanced down at Alex’s big hands, tanned and sprinkled with a smattering of dark hair. Funny, she never found a man’s hands sexy. Suddenly her mind filled with images of Alex trailing those big, masculine hands over her body. She wondered if he fit the stereotype. Big hands, big…
“You never did answer my question. Are you considering taking me up on my offer?” The sound of his voice pulled her from a host of fantasies. Willow dug her nails into her palm to get her head back in the game. She shouldn’t be thinking about this man in such a raw, sexual way.
“Why not? My car’s parked in the back.”She probed through the nearby crowd to check if Alex came here with bodyguards. A virtual cacophony of conversations invaded her thoughts, but nothing about protection for Alex. Once she got him alone, she’d take her chances and pray she wouldn’t be outnumbered. “Then let’s get out of here. Unless of course I’ve got some competition.” He   motioned over her shoulder to the incubus whose head now lolled forward over the bar.
“I think you’re flying solo here.” She’d set her trap and let the consequences be damned. She rubbed her finger along the rim of the glass and licked off the salt.
She lifted the glass to her lips, savoring the tangy flavor of margarita mix along with the zing of tequila as it slid down her throat. Headrush. No surprise there, she couldn’t remember the last time she’d slept or eaten in the past forty-eight hours, existing on a combination of raw nerves and pure adrenaline.
“You missed a spot.” He ran his thumb along the seam of her lip. He put it to his mouth and licked. “Mmm, sweet.” Her plan didn’t involve foreplay…but damn he was hot. In another time and another place she would be seriously into this guy. Too bad I might have to kill him.

Alex eased Willow’s hair from her ponytail and let it fall in a heavy wave around her shoulders. He ran his fingers through the layers until she sighed. “God, you’re beautiful. I’ve thought so from the first moment I saw you strut across the room.”
There’d been a moment back in the library when she caught him gazing at her with the same raw heat and hunger in his eyes that was present now. Alex had way too much power over her. She refused to give him any more. “You have an unfair advantage here.”
He caressed her cheek, and then pressed an open mouthed kiss to her neck, making her shiver. “So let’s level the playing field. Take advantage of me all you want.”
“I’m not stupid, Alex. You’re every woman’s fantasy come to life.” She put up her hand and pressed it against the hard wall of his chest, secretly loving the way his muscles jumped beneath her fingertips. Female pride surged inside her at the effect she was having on him. She gasped as his tongue slid over the shell of her ear. “Ellen was practically drooling all over herself staring at you.” Not that she could blame her. You’d have to be dead not to notice a male as hot as Alex. “Watch your back. She’s a man-eater.”
“Don’t worry. She’s not my type,” he murmured and sucked on her neck.
“Yeah, well that never stopped her before.” She bit down on her lip to keep from moaning.
He pulled away from her to gaze into her eyes and his expression was full of mischief. “Maybe you haven’t noticed, but there’s someone else I have my eye on.” He ran his thumb over the pulse beating wildly at her throat. “You seem aroused and angry and I find it sexy as hell. I know a great way to ease the tension.”
“Is sex all you think about?” She smacked him lightly on the shoulder.
Alex caught her hand and brought her fingers to his lips, then flashed a wicked smile. “Do you really want me answer truthfully?”

RISKY PLEASURE? What Are They? And Risky How? #erotic #romance

To what extent would you call certain pleasures risky? Some people might get an adrenaline rush by doing extreme sports like skydiving, rock climbing, surfing mountainous waves, wrestling with alligators, etc. Do you have a few more to add?

I’m talking more along the lines of sexuality. Even here, the pleasures of riskiness can be broad, depending on who you talk to. One night stands with a stranger, having an affair, bondage and flogging in BDSM, going to sex clubs, having sex with multiple partners at the same time (ménages and more). Of course, others wouldn’t think there is anything risking in any of the above. It may be all fun, part of their particular lifestyle or taste. Different strokes as they say.

But in my new short story RISKY PLEASURES from Ellora’s Cave (release date 8/8/14) The “risk” is life and death between demons, and their needs for sexual satisfaction, highly intense.

The demoness Gwyllain was the one who got all the demons into trouble in the first place. While on their planet of Prygos, she had an affair with her husband’s engineer, Tarik. Gwyllain’s husband-Cragen-was the ruler of Prygos, and when he discovered Tarik building a secret hideaway love nest, he had his other engineers redesign it to his specifications. This miniature world called Anartia was like a small island surrounded by an ocean. On the island was a palace that Tarik and Gwyllain could be alone with her few servants. This world was hidden between dimensions so her husband couldn’t find. But he did. He had faithful spies.

Anartia became an exiled prison for his unfaithful wife, Tarik and her servants. And this miniature world was sent on a journey into another solar system—close to Earth. In order to keep the world from disintegrating, both Gwyllain and Tarik must take offerings of chi, or life force energy acquired from mortals on Earth. The drones collect the energy and transfer it to the two rulers of Anartia—Gwyllain and Tarik through sex. A lot of sex. This is her husband’s punishment. If they stop, their world and the drones will be destroyed. This process leaves little time for these lovers to be together. Gwyllain is evil. Tarik never wanted to be involved with her in the first place, but could not refuse his mistress.

Two drones, Sakari and Zorian, try desperately to be together. The attraction is strong between them, but their world and duty allows for little contact too. And if Gwyllain knew they were ‘wasting’ chi on their own pleasures, she most likely would destroy them and recruit new drones from Earth. But Sakari has a secret and doesn’t know if Zorian will agree with her. This secret could be their only hope for love or their final destruction. Is the risk too great?

RISKY PLEASURES is a background story, a bit of a prequel to the DEMONS IN EXILE series.

BLURB: Part of the Demons in Exile series.
Sakari’s desire burns deep for the hot and erotic moments Zorian provides in his private chambers. But to get him there alone, she must risk her immortal life and the wrath of the demoness. Sexual pleasures among demon drones are strictly forbidden and she has defied the demoness by returning to Anartia without her offering. As a skilled Disciplinarian, Zorian will do whatever it takes to train her as a proper drone by testing her sexual limits before they can indulge their own wicked urges. Sakari’s darkest secret will be their greatest risk and test of their love.

A Romantica® paranormal erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave Twilight line.

Excerpt:

Shylah was beginning to hate eggs. She’d thought of asking the local grocer to stop stocking them since they all seemed to end up on her house. Honestly, what was the point of buying a dozen eggs and throwing them against her wall, or buying a twelve-pack of toilet paper and wrapping it around her trees? At least the more destructive attacks had waned, no more using her mailbox for baseball practice or slashing her tires. A few more scrubs and she dropped the sponge into the bucket, satisfied. The paint was back to its usual color and texture and the smell had dissipated. She did a backstretch, then turned as she heard a car pull into her drive.

One drop-dead-gorgeous man stepped out from behind the wheel. His skin was a dark olive and his hair dark and neatly trimmed. As he moved closer, the afternoon sun illuminated gold flecks in his rich brown eyes. He had a jacket slung over his shoulder and his shirt sleeves rolled up. He was probably six inches taller than her. All in all, a fine specimen.

But since the only men who seemed to visit her in the past few months had been cops or private eyes, Shylah greeted him with a scowl. “Can I help you?” She carefully dumped the bucket at the base of her azalea bushes.

When she straightened, he offered her his business card. “I’m Gabe Niguel. I’ve been hired by Angela Gustava to investigate the death of her daughter.”

“Another investigator? She’s got to be going broke from this! What does she think you’ll learn different than the last three investigators who talked to me?” She noted the goose bumps on his forearms.

“It’s very cold out here. Do you mind if I come in?”

“Put your coat on then.” Although she was getting chilly, despite her jacket. She’d splashed some water on her sleeves as she’d washed off the egg spatter.

He smiled and Shylah had no doubt he had women swooning everywhere he went. “It’s easier to talk when we’re at ease in your living room, don’t you think?”

Shylah glanced at his card again, buying time to sense his aura. It wasn’t something magical; it was just a heightened awareness that most people didn’t take the time to feel. Auras were usually described in colors, the different colors having different meanings. Gabe’s aura blended shades of red with a gray rim. The gray meant he was on his guard. She imagined most PIs had that about them, if it wasn’t overwhelmed by other emotions. The reds were more difficult to decipher—he was angry and strong-willed, but that didn’t overtake his realism and fairness. He would search for justice, not revenge. The clearest red meant he was passionate, powerful and sexual. Shylah felt a zing at this. She tamped it down, reminding herself that the previous investigators had been determined to prove her guilty, despite the lack of evidence.

But nothing in his aura said untrustworthy or violent. She decided to let him in, so at the very least she could take her own wet jacket off.
Once they were inside, she said, “You can take the armchair closest to the fire. That will warm you right up. Would you like some tea?”

He walked past her. “You wouldn’t have any coffee?”

“I’m afraid not. I have my blend of Mu Tea, which gives you more energy than caffeine can.”

He sat down in the antique armchair, making the chair look small because of his size. “Um, what’s in it exactly?”

“Ginseng, cinnamon, ginger and licorice.”

He looked doubtful. “I’ll try it. None of the previous investigators died, did they?”

“Why, Mr. Niguel, I’d be a lot more subtle if I wanted to kill you.”

Beyond Your Darkest Desires, Kathy Kulig’s New Do

It was time for a change, a makeover, an update, and I’m loving the new look. My website got a makeover. My writing has evolved and I wanted something to convey that change. I’m still writing hot, sexy and emotionally charged stories, but now I’m hitting the edgier side with more BDSM themes and entering new paranormal worlds The new stories I’m working on didn’t quite seem to fit the old site. Some have BDSM and some don’t. Most are paranormal with a few contemporaries. Check out my website and tell me what you think? http://www.kathykulig.com The fabulous and amazing web designer Rae Monet (www.raemonetinc.com) did the work. I highly recommend her.

The new sensual and classy couple on the website says it all. Thanks to the handsome Jimmy Thomas at http://romancenovelcovers.com/  for the hot design. Can’t go wrong with a Jimmy photo from RNC. ((sigh)) Okaaay, turn up the AC, it’s getting warm in here.

Readers love the BDSM stories and have asked for more. I enjoy writing them, so expect to see more. (My editor has one now). Readers wanted to know what’s next, so I’m keeping you all in the loop. Look for BDSM and paranormal erotic romance. (The paranormal may, or may not, have BDSM elements)

I’m frequently asked where do I get my ideas. The quick answer is everywhere. But my best inspiration comes to me while traveling. Recently, I went to New Hope, PA for a get-away weekend with dh to research a new paranormal erotic series. We stayed in an 1833 B&B said to be haunted. No, I didn’t see any ghosts, but this village on the Delaware River will be the perfect setting for the stories I plan to write. I outlined two and started world building.

Don’t want to give more details until I start submitting the books because I don’t want to jinx myself. I’ll keep you posted.

Setting for next paranormal series:
t
Canal with towpath, New Hope, Pa

Street in New Hope, Pa

Cool old houses from 1700s and 1800s

Hot Men in Masks - Lexi Post

Welcome Lexi Post to the HOT and Sexy Paranormal Memorial Day Giveaway Event.

Lexi is giving away the beautiful Venetian mask from Italy (see above) to celebrate her new release Masque from Ellora’s Cave. Leave a comment and  email for a chance to WIN.

Welcome to the Passion Sense Blog Lexi Post. Visitors, if you like what you read, please check out her books at:

Kathy Kulig: Hello, Lexi. Please tell us something about yourself, where you’re from, and how you became a writer.

Lexi Post: Well, I’m kind of from everywhere, at least within the United States. I’ve lived in NJ, NH, MA, IA, IN, AZ, DE, MD, and now I’m living in the U.S. Virgin Islands in the Caribbean.  I have to say I love the weather here (except during hurricane season). As for writing, I came to it from two directions. I was a literature major for my degrees and I fell in love with romance novels at age 14, so I was constantly flipping between Shakespeare and Kathleen Woodiwiss, Melville and Johanna Lindsay.  I guess it is no wonder that I decided to write erotic romance inspired by the classics.  For people who aren’t into classic literature, my story is a complete erotic romance with happily ever after, but for those who want to read the original first, they will find another whole level of meaning, so it is fun either way.

Kathy Kulig: What paranormal elements and characters do you incorporate in your stories? Who are your favor paranormal creatures—Vampires, werewolves, demons, etc.?

Lexi Post: My paranormal is always subtle and a bit different each time. For example, in my debut release Masque, I have 73 ghosts and a 185 year-old hero who is neither ghost nor immortal. Okay, maybe that one isn’t so subtle. It’s because this story was inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s short story “The Masque of the Red Death.” You see, Rena Mills plans to turn an abandoned abbey into a haunted bed-and-breakfast to prove she can be successful without her ex-fiancé. What she finds inside is Synn MacAllistair, the distinguished, self-proclaimed Ghost Keeper. Her dreams soon fill with sexual cravings for him.

Synn, born in 1828, is determined to free the souls of the resident spirits, blaming himself for bringing the Red Death that killed them. When Rena steps into the old Pleasure Palace, he’s sure he can take her through the 7 after-midnight Pleasure Rooms and stoke her passion to complete the Masque so the souls can cross over. Her innocent fire makes him crave more, but it’s far too late for him.

As Rena begins her erotic journey, her heart becomes more involved with every sensual caress until she discovers by completing the Masque she will lose her ghosts! Synn’s betrayal wars with her compassion for her ghostly friends. Torn, she must make a choice between her financial security and freeing 73 trapped souls. Either way, she could lose her Synn.

As for which paranormal creatures I favor, when it comes to reading, I have to say shifters. I’m an animal lover at heart, so these human animals really tug at my heart strings J

Kathy Kulig: What are you working on at the moment? New release coming up?

Lexi Post: I am working on a couple projects right now. I have a new book to be released this fall by Ellora’s Cave called Passion’s Poison.  In this erotic romance inspired by Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “Rappaccini’s Daughter,” the paranormal element came from the original story. Beatrice Rappaccini is poisonous.  However, in my story she has to release those poisons to stay alive by having sex with unsuspecting men, and the men, well, let’s just say they don’t feel so good afterwards. This does cause a bit of a problem when Bea falls head over heels in love. I mean, really, she could easily kill the man simply by losing herself in the moment!

The other project I’m working on, as in writing furiously, is the Passion of Sleepy Hollow. As you can imagine, this story was inspired by Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” and its paranormal element involves an 18th century witch and a disappearing village. The heroine lives in Old Time and the hero lives in New Time, so I guess you could say their time together is limited, unless of course they make love. This story does include the Headless Horseman. In fact, he’s the hero!

Kathy Kulig: Where can readers find out about you and your books?

Lexi Post: They can visit any one of the links below.  I love visitors J

Naked Statues with Berengaria Brown

Welcome Berengaria Brown to the HOT and Sexy Paranormal Memorial Day Giveaway Event.

Welcome to the Passion Sense Blog BerengariaBrown. Visitors, if you like what you read, please check out her books at: https://www.ellorascave.com/index.php/authors/index/author/slug/berengaria-brown/

Kathy Kulig: Hello, Berengaria. Please tell us something about yourself, where you’re from, and how you became a writer.

Berengaria: My father had to watch me when I was very small and my Mom was ill. So he taught me to read. Thus I was a reader long before I was a writer. Then one day I had no books to read so I began to write one. I finished it, sent it to a publisher, and still had no books to read, so I began writing another one. The rest, as they say, is history.

Kathy Kulig: What paranormal elements and characters do you incorporate in your stories? Who are your favor paranormal creatures—Vampires, werewolves, demons, etc.?

Berengaria: Mostly werewolves. I have quite a few werewolf books (at a different publisher). I also have some dragon shapeshifters (at a different publisher) as well. But any shapeshifter fascinates me, hence these statues, which are not only naked, but also different.

Kathy Kulig: What are you working on at the moment? New release coming up?

Berengaria: Sadly, right now, the day job is sucking all the energy from me. I have vacation booked for September so I hope to sit on a beach and write then.

Kathy Kulig: Where can readers find out about you and your books? http://berengariasblog.blogspot.com/

Naked Statues”: Blurb

A series of naked, well-endowed statues in the Botanical Gardens encourages lovers Fleur, Ricky and Heath to indulge in some hot, naughty public sex. But there’s more to these statues than rock-hard abs…

Lily and Flynn have been trapped inside a statue since last Halloween. When a mischievous god with a love of all things sexual swaps them for the trio of lovers, can the strength of their love set them all free?

Excerpt PG13

“Oh my goodness! Now this one I like,” laughed Fleur, climbing up the steps onto a statue in the Botanical Gardens. She slid between the legs of the man of stone and rested her mouth over its extra large penis.

“This one’s so much better endowed than the angel with the long, curly hair we saw over there a ways.”

Ulric snapped a photo of her on his phone, saying, “Sweetie, that was no angel. That was Eros, and trust me, his behavior is said to be anything but angelic!”

“I wouldn’t expect anything else from the God of Love and Sex!” She jumped down from the statue to look at the photo with him. Meanwhile Heath had kept walking, his gaze on a statue down a short pathway on their right.

“Hey, Ricky, you’ll like this one better, I promise,” called Heath.

Fleur ran to see what Heath was looking at and Ulric ambled along behind his two partners. He loved them both equally, and as a triad they had some spectacular sex, but he didn’t always understand their thought patterns. Especially Fleur’s. He grinned, remembering when he first met them. He’d hated having to go to that charity dinner. Then the three had all been left sitting at the table when their tablemates got up to dance. They’d started talking, and the relationship had exploded from there.

While the idea of spending a sunny Saturday afternoon walking around the Botanical Gardens was totally not his scene, Fleur had wanted to come, Heath was agreeable, and as Ricky hadn’t had any better ideas of things to do, here they were. Besides, he was amused at Fleur’s enthusiastic explanation that the trip to the gardens was all about their names. She’d said Fleur was French for flower, and Heath was a kind of plant, and gardens always had flowers and plants. Also, Ulric means wolf and she’d heard a statue of a wolf was to be found in the gardens. Maybe next weekend we’d better go to the zoo. Ricky grinned to himself and caught up to the others. Heath was staring up at a statue of a woman wearing nothing much, with one huge breast exposed.

“Climb up and kiss it, Heath, and I’ll take your photo,” called Fleur.

Heath shrugged the backpack off his shoulders and took a run up to the statue, catching hold of her elbows and kissing the breast, before dropping back to the ground.

The three laughed over the rather blurry photo on Fleur’s phone, then Heath picked up his backpack and they continued walking along the little path, which took another turn.

“We seem to be walking around this neverending hedge-thing. I wonder what it is,” commented Fleur.

Still another turn took them to the opening in the hedge and a sign.

“It’s a maze! Oh, awesome. Come on,” called Fleur, running inside. “Right or left?”

Ricky scanned the sign, but there was no key to the maze there. “Likely we’ll be stuck here for a hundred years, slowly starving and turning into skeletons,” he wailed in as mournful a voice as he could manage.

“Our bones will be found by archeologists on a dig in the year 2100,” added Heath in a sepulchral tone.

But Fleur just laughed, turning right and left as they meandered through the maze.
