SERIES: Why I Like Them #romance

By guest blogger Lynn LaFleur

I’ve written six series so far, plus a collection of books which takes place in my fictional town of Lanville, Texas. I love writing about Lanville, and plan to set more books there in the future. I enjoy revisiting my characters, letting my readers know what those characters are doing ever since they received a happy ending in their own books.

I feel the same about my Anything Goes series, which takes place in a sex club on the outskirts of Dallas. I like to bring back characters my readers have already met and give them their own happy ending, or introduce you to brand new characters.

That’s what I’ve done with Three’s Perfect, the 5th book in my Anything Goes series. Those of you who have read the series will recognize some of the names, but I’ve also introduced brand new ones.

Here’s a little taste of Three’s Perfect. I hope you enjoy it.

* * * * *
Sean sat back in his chair, at a loss as to what to say next. His friend had gotten married at a sex club. Sean had been out of town visiting his parents in Seattle when Gabe and Debra married. He’d hated missing their wedding, but his mother would’ve hurt him severely if he hadn’t gone home for Christmas and New Year’s.

He’d assumed the couple got married at a church or special wedding venue. Finding out his friend’s wedding had been at Anything Goes made him doubly sorry he’d missed the ceremony.

Sean cleared his throat so he could speak clearly again. “You and Debra had your wedding at a sex club?”

Gabe nodded. “Lisa Cline, one of the owners, works with Debra at the hospital. She offered the club as the venue, which included all the food, decorations, and a three-tier cake. We couldn’t say no to such generosity.”

“So, what’s it like in there?” He propped one elbow on the island, rested his temple against his fist. “I’ve heard it really is anything goes.”

“Like I said, I’ve never been a customer, but Lisa has told Debra about the club. If you can think of a sex act you want, you can do it there. Including bondage.”

Sean’s cock gave an interested leap at the mention of bondage. He’d never done that with a lover, but it had always been in the back of his mind as interesting to try.

“Want to go?” Gabe asked.

“I’ve heard it’s a closed membership.”

“I can get you an invitation as a guest.”

“Do you know if there will be other gays there?”

Gabe nodded again. “Lisa told Debra and me that several of the attendants are bi or willing to play with the same sex. Plus, a lot of the members like same-gender sex. There’s a huge play area where anyone can play with anyone. Or if you meet a member or guest you want to be with, there are private rooms available. You won’t leave unsatisfied.”

The thought tempted Sean. An evening of sex with someone—or someones—he’d never have to see again. No danger of having his heart trampled. Nothing but pleasure without any expectations of starting a relationship. “You really can get me an invitation?”

“Sure. Lisa is a good friend. So is her brother, Alex. They own the club together. Either of them would give you an invitation in a second. The club is open Friday and Saturday nights. I can get you an invitation for either day this week. As your doctor, I can verify that you don’t have any nasty STDs.”

Gabe held up one hand, stopping Sean before he spoke again. “Before you ask, everyone is tested yearly. All attendants, members, and guests have to supply a medical report proving they’re clean. The club provides condoms, and all the men are required to wear them.”

After five years with Mason, it would be weird to use condoms again. Sean loved the feeling of a guy’s cock sliding into his ass without any kind of barrier between them. However, he knew that could never happen with someone he barely knew. Common sense had to prevail over hormones.

“Do you want to go this weekend?” Gabe asked.

Why not? Maybe an evening of hot sex will wake up my muse. “Yeah. Set me up for Friday night.”

Excerpt:
Hunger gnawed at him, so he ate heartily. She remained silent while she ate. He took his cue from her and also ate without speaking. When he finished his meal, he pushed his empty plate aside and sipped his tea while waiting for her to finish.
She laid her fork in her empty plate and set it on top of his. Leaning forward, she rested her forearms on the table. “Did my sister send you?” she asked.
“I do not know your sister. No one sent me here. You are my mate.”
“You don’t even know my name. How can I be your ‘mate’?”
“I do not need to know your name. I know in my heart we are meant to be together.”
“You still want me to believe you came from that card?”
“I am no longer there. What other explanation do you have for that?”
“I don’t have any other explanation, but what you’re saying is crazy. People don’t materialize out of birthday cards!”
“They do if they are under a spell.”
She blinked. “A spell?”
“Yes.”
She remained quiet for several moments. “I think you’d better start at the beginning, Kane.”
Needing to move while he spoke, Kane rose and paced the small area between the table and cabinets. “I told you I do not remember many details from my past. What I do remember is being…involved with someone who cared more for me than I cared for her.”
“You were lovers?”
“Yes, for a short while. I told her she was not my true love and I could not marry her. When I tried to end our relationship, she became very angry. She was a sorceress and told me if she could not have me, no one could. She cast a spell that I would remain imprisoned until my true love found me.” He stopped by her chair. “You found me and set me free.”
“You’ve been imprisoned in a greeting card?”
“I do not know the details of my imprisonment, nor how long I have been captive.” Kneeling by her chair, he took her hand in his. “I only know that you found me and set me free. That means you are my one true love.”
“Kane—”
He placed one finger over her mouth to stop her words. “My memory may be unclear, but my feelings are not. I knew the moment I saw you how I feel about you. I have waited for you a long time.” He cradled her cheek in his hand and rubbed his thumb over her lips. “I know of your dreams of me. I do not know how I know, I simply do. You would not have dreamed of me for so long if we were not meant to be together.” His thumb brushed her lips again. “You are my true love.”

Lynn LaFleur’s Favorite Season for FALLING IN LOVE

Autumn is my favorite season of the year for several reasons:

The colors. All the reds and golds and oranges of the leaves turning colors are simply breathtaking. I live in North Texas, where only a few variety of trees actually change color in autumn. I’m surrounded by mountain cedars and live oaks, which stay green all year long. But those trees that do turn color are spectacular.

The cooler weather. Our summers are hot and humid. Most of us breathe a sigh of relief when the weather starts to turn cooler. Finally, we can walk outside without feeling as if we’re hit in the face with a wet washcloth!

Football. And no, those tight pants the players wear have nothing to do with why I love the sport. Okay, maybe a little.

Halloween and Thanksgiving and Christmas. (I know Christmas is technically a winter holiday, but don’t burst my bubble.) Those holidays mean fun for the kids, togetherness for family, lots of good food, and laughter. Who doesn’t love watching a child open a present on Christmas morning?

Autumn also means more time inside for reading. I love to curl up in my recliner with a cup of hot tea and an afghan thrown over my lap while I get lost in an author’s world.

I hope you’ll get lost in *my* world and enjoy one of my books. Here’s a little taste of “Worth the Wait”, from the Falling in Love boxed set, available today.

Lindsay drew her bottom lip farther between her teeth when she saw Sam unlock the door to the storeroom. She glanced around the bar, searching for the other bartender. She didn’t see him, but she could hear what sounded like dishes being shifted and stacked in the kitchen.

She had no idea how long Sam would be in that storeroom. If she did something, it had to be now.

Don’t be a wimp, Lindsay. Go for it.

Lindsay sipped her Coke and took a deep breath. Grabbing her purse, she rose and strode to the storeroom.

She stepped into a room larger than she’d expected. Long and wide, shelves sat along all the walls and down the middle, holding boxes of liquor and glassware. She saw a door straight ahead of her that she assumed led to the kitchen, or perhaps opened for deliveries. She couldn’t see Sam, but she could hear bottles rattling.

Laying her purse on top of a case of bourbon, she pushed the door shut and flipped the deadbolt.

The rattling stopped. “Monte?” Sam called out.

Lindsay leaned back against the door, her hands behind her for support. “No, it isn’t Monte.”

Several seconds passed before he appeared at the end of the middle shelves.

Lindsay said nothing and neither did he. She watched his gaze slowly move over her from head to feet and back again. Her heart pounded as if she’d done an hour of hard exercise. Sweat formed on her palms while her mouth became dry. She waited for him to move closer, but he remained still.

The first move had to be hers.

Falling in Love is Worth the Wait -Hot Novellas Collection

With the lineup of authors in this sexy romantic collection of novellas, it’s easy to see why this will be an auto-buy for me! So many of my favorite authors and author friends who I can highly recommend.
Coming September 22.
The amazing Syneca Featherstone has done the cover. I looove her work. And can’t wait to add this one to my Kindle.
Lynn LaFleur is my very good friend so I’m going to talk about her story: Worth the Wait
BLURB: Past relationships that ended in heartbreak have left Lindsay Cunningham ready to give up on men altogether. She’d always waited for the men to ask her out, believing women shouldn’t be pushy. That changes the evening of her thirtieth birthday, when she has dinner at her favorite restaurant and bar with girlfriends. Tired of constantly being meek, she approaches the sexy bartender and offers him a wild night of uninhibited sex.

The night is much more than simply sex for Sam McKeifer. He wants a future with Lindsay. Unfortunately, he has no idea how to find her when he awakes the next morning and discovers she’s left.
With help from two of his employees, Sam finds Lindsay. Now he has to help her tear down the walls that surround her bruised heart. Only then will she realize true love is worth the wait.
(Previously published as One Thing to Give. The set also contains stories by Suz DeMello, Tina Donahue, Ann Jacobs, Ari Thatcher, PJ Alderman, KyAnn Waters, and Kathryn Lively.)

Excerpt:
He took a key ring from his pocket, unlocked the door. She caught a glimpse of cases of liquor on shelves since he left the door ajar a few inches.
I wonder what he’d do if I went in there with him, closed the door, and attacked him?
Lindsay took a sip of her fresh Coke. As if she’d ever do anything like that. She couldn’t possibly consider having sex with a man when their entire conversation had consisted of less than ten sentences.
But then, why not?
Lindsay had never been shy, but she considered herself conservative. She’d never had sex with a man on the first date. She’d never asked a man out, believing he should be the one to take the first step. Her girlfriends all called her old-fashioned and said she should move into the twenty-first century where women had no problem asking a man out.
Maybe she should. Maybe it was time for her to do something she’d never done, something totally out of her character.
Lindsay unzipped her purse and peeked inside at the three condoms her girlfriend, Rita Moore, had pushed across the table at dinner. The four women had been talking about sex—one of Rita’s favorite topics—and she had calmly laid the condoms on the table with instructions for Lindsay to “use them.”
Her other friends had giggled while Lindsay quickly scooped them up and stuck them in her purse, mortified that Rita had done that in a public place. Yet, she’d also been intrigued by the thought of picking up a man she’d just met and having wild, uninhibited sex.
Glancing toward the bar, she saw that Sam had returned to work. She felt a strong attraction to him, no doubt of that. And the way he’d looked at her when he brought her the Coke made her believe he felt an attraction, too.
So, what’s stopping you, Lindsay?
Sam no longer being in the storeroom, for one thing. She couldn’t very well start tearing off his clothes with customers watching their every move.
Lindsay looked at her watch. Eleven-twenty. A few people remained in the bar, but the restaurant had finally emptied except for two couples. The Saloon closed at midnight. She had forty more minutes left of her birthday. She wanted it to end with a special present.
She wanted it to end with Sam inside her.

LURING LISA

Publisher: Lynn LaFleur
Release Date: April 28, 2015
ISBN: 978-1-51309-762-6
Genre: Contemporary MF, FF, and FFM
Length: Novella
Cover Design by Lynn LaFleur

EXCERPTKade smiled his thanks at the clerk and picked up the tray. As he headed back to the table, his gaze met Lisa’s. Something hit him in the center of his chest, a feeling he’d never experienced. No stranger to physical love, he’d known desire many times. He’d touched several women in his life. He’d held them in his arms, whispered soft words to them, become one with them with his body, but never with his heart. Love had never found him.

He wondered if the strange feeling in his chest meant he could fall for Lisa.

Mentally shaking his head at the ridiculous thought, Kade continued to the table. A person didn’t fall in love at first sight, no matter what the romantics said. It took time to build a relationship…time he rarely had since he traveled so much.

“I bought a couple of the chocolate-filled croissants, too, since they looked so good.”

He liked how she smiled in delight. “You must know the way to woo a woman is through chocolate.”

“Or maybe lure her into submission.”

He bobbed his eyebrows in a playful leer, which made her laugh. “I doubt if you have any trouble getting women to do your every bidding.”

He sputtered out a laugh. “’Tis a nice thing for you to say, but I’m far from having women do my every biddin’.” He rubbed his chin while he thought back to his last date. It shocked him to realize he couldn’t remember when that happened.

The family business, while keeping his bank account healthy, did little to help him in the relationship department.

He sipped his coffee while watching Lisa unwrap her breakfast sandwich and take a bite. No long, dagger-like fingernails for her. Medium in length and painted a deep maroon, they almost matched the color of the sweater she wore with her black pants. Several silver chains in various lengths draped down the front of the sweater. Large, silver hoops decorated her earlobes.

With her oval face, high cheekbones, straight nose, and full lips, she had to be, without a doubt, one of the loveliest women he’d ever seen.

A “ding” from the machine that controlled the gas pumps signaled someone pressed the button to start adding gas to their vehicle. Paige glanced out the window in curiosity to see if it might be someone she knew. She blinked, looked a second time. Hand on her suddenly churning stomach, she straightened and stared at the man wearing a black leather jacket who pumped gas into a huge black Harley.

Wavy, dark brown hair flowed over his forehead and ears and down his neck. About six-one with the broad shoulders of a swimmer. Sunglasses protected his eyes. A couple days of scruff darkened his lower face. Olive skin. Tight, faded jeans covered his legs, black boots encased his feet.

Holy shit.

Her fantasy man had materialized, as if someone intercepted her thoughts and created him just for her.

Her hormones did a happy dance.

Since most people used a credit or debit card to pay for their gas, they didn’t come into the store unless they needed something besides gas. Please, oh, please, let him need something so he comes in! Let me have the thrill of seeing him up close.

In case he did come in, she ran her fingers through her hair to fluff it and straightened her T-shirt.

Paige kept glancing at the man while she unwrapped a stack of tickets. He replaced the nozzle in the pump, screwed the cap on his gas tank. Then he headed toward the entrance.
Her hormones did another tap dance.

He nodded at her once he stepped inside the store, but looked away before she had the chance to flash him her most dazzling smile. He strolled to the refrigerated section, perused the items through the glass doors before he opened one and withdrew a bottle of Pepsi.

He continued his slow-paced stroll down the snacks isle, picked up a bag of chips and a large Snickers. Paige tried not to stare at him, but her gaze kept wandering back to him. Such an attractive man hadn’t come in the store in a long time.

Apparently finding everything he wanted, he approached the check-out counter. The closer he got to her, the heavier she breathed. He had full, pale pink lips that she easily imagined pressed against hers. She couldn’t call his face square, but more of a triangle with his forehead being a little narrower than his jawline. A silver stud winked at her from his left earlobe.

She wished he’d take off his sunglasses so she could see his eyes.

As if he’d read her mind, he pushed the dark glasses to the top of his head, exposing brown, almond-shaped eyes surrounded by thick, brown eyelashes. Lust churned in her stomach when his gaze met hers.

Paige had to clear her throat before she could speak. “Will this be all for you?”

“I also need some information,” he said in a voice that made her think of smooth maple syrup.

“Sure.” Paige rang up the items while he drew his wallet from the pocket of his jacket. “What kind of information?”

“I have an appointment at Café Crystal in about half an hour. Can you tell me where that is?”

She blinked in surprise. She couldn’t imagine what kind of appointment he could have at the restaurant. “Uh, sure. It’s on County Road 311. Turn left when you leave here, then take a left at the stop light. Drive about two miles and you’ll see the turnoff for 311 on your right. Café Crystal is at the end of the road, next to The Inn on Crystal Creek.”

He smiled, which transformed his face from handsome to panties-creaming gorgeous. “Thanks.”

Paige caught herself before she fanned her face. “No problem.” She slipped his items into a plastic bag. Curiosity got the better of her. It might be rude, but she had to ask him about his appointment. “Are you seeing Emma about a job?”

“A possible job. I answered an ad for an assistant chef.”

“You’re a chef?”

“Yeah.” Grinning, he held out his hands and looked down at himself. “Not your idea of a chef, huh?”

She returned his grin. “Not exactly.”

“Looks can be deceiving. That whole don’t-judge-a-book-by-its-cover thing.”

“That’s true.” She passed the bag over the counter to him. “Good luck.”

“Thanks…” He glanced at the nametag pinned above her left breast. “Paige.”

He turned and walked toward the door. With his hand on the push bar, he looked at her over his shoulder. “If I get the job, maybe I’ll see you around town.”

“You probably will. It’s a small town.”

He nodded once in acknowledgement of her comment, then left the store.

Paige placed her hand on her stomach again. A chef, of all things. She never would’ve guessed that about him. Not that a chef couldn’t look hot, but she didn’t get that kind of vibe from him. He seemed a little bit…dangerous.

A shiver passed through her. What fun it would be to tame him.

Taste of Bliss by Lynn LaFleur HOT Wolf Shifter

Taste of Bliss, my second wolf shapeshifter book, was so much fun to write. I always enjoy adding a touch of paranormal to my books, so anytime I get the chance to do that, I’ll take it.

Taste of Bliss picks up where “The Right Number” in the NightShift anthology left off. You’ll meet Mackenzie, Roni’s sister, and Ty, the man who steals Mac’s heart. There is also mention of Roni’s and Mac’s other four siblings. Yes, they will all have their own book, part of my Moon’s Magic series.

Mackenzie lost her husband three years ago and has no interest in another relationship. Yet the call of the wolf inside her knows Ty is meant for her. She can resist him for only so long until her wolf has to be satisfied. Their passion is explosive, their lovemaking everything they both fantasized it could be.
But a kidnapper is still on the loose, threatening more wolves and Mackenzie. Ty will risk everything—even his own life—to protect the members of his pack and the woman he loves.

Here’s a little “taste” of Taste of Bliss. I hope you enjoy it!

EXCERPT:
* * *

A noise outside drew her attention away from her need and back to the world beyond her bedroom. Mac thought it sounded like the garage door opening and closing, but that couldn’t be possible. The digital clock read 9:43. Surely Ty wouldn’t be home so early from his date, not on the night of a full moon.

Another noise from inside the house made her act. She whimpered when she tugged on the dildo. Her channel clenched around it, as if it didn’t want to let go. She rose from the bed and slipped on the oversized T-shirt she’d placed on the nearby chair. After placing the dildo on the bathroom counter, she opened her door and peered into the living room. Ty stood in the middle of the room, his back to her, his head lowered. She watched his back rise and fall rapidly from his heavy breaths.

“Fuck,” he muttered softly.

Suddenly his head snapped up and jerked to the side, snaring her gaze with his over his shoulder. He slowly turned around until he faced her. She swallowed at the look of hunger on his face.

“Go back to bed, Mackenzie.” His voice came out in a husky growl. He clenched and unclenched his fists at his sides.

She should. She should shut the door right now. Ty would never enter her bedroom without an invitation. He’d kept his promise about nothing personal happening between them since she’d started staying with him.

Instead she opened it wider and took a step outside the room.

“Mackenzie. Unless you want to get royally fucked, I suggest you go back in that room and close the door.”

Oh God, getting royally fucked sounds so good. She winced as her pussy clenched.

Eyes widening in concern, Ty took a step closer to her. “Are you all right?”

“Yes. No.” She crossed her arms over her stomach. “It’s the full moon, Ty. You know I’m not all right.”

He took another step, then stopped. Mac looked at the fly of his black pants. Seeing the large bulge there made her pussy clench again. Apparently whoever he went out with tonight hadn’t completely satisfied him.

She inhaled deeply, noting he didn’t have the scent of a woman clinging to him. Perhaps he’d gone out but hadn’t had sex. That didn’t make sense. The whole purpose of dating the night of the full moon would be for sex.

His nostrils flared as his gaze touched every part of her body before returning to her face. “You just came.”

Mac nodded, unable to speak past the desire in her throat.

“Jesus, Mackenzie.” He covered his face with his hands, ran them up into his hair. “You make it really difficult for me to be a gentleman.”

“Maybe I don’t want you to be a gentleman.”

Smokin' Hot, with Guest Lynn LaFleur

I'm always excited to have my friend Lynn LaFleur as a guest. Besides being a talented author, she's a wonderful person. Her books are an auto-buy for me. Her heroes are hot, sexy, definitely hero-worthy and the heroines are strong, smart, sometimes willful, with a lot of heart. Expect a steamy and emotional read and an entertaining story that you won't be able to put down.
~

I graduated from high school in 1974. (You do the math.) All through high school, I listened to The Beatles, The Monkees, Paul Revere and The Raiders, Bread, Bobby Sherman. (I had SUCH a crush on Bobby Sherman!) Yep, I was a pop music junkie. While most of my friends had their radios tuned to country stations, I bebopped around my bedroom to The Partridge Family.

I’ve always loved music. When I started writing, music naturally went along with it. The type of music depends on what I’m writing. Sometimes I want to bebop along with those great 70s tunes. Sometimes a movie soundtrack will put me in the exact mood I need. Classical, rock, soft instrumental… It all depends on the scene and the characters.

Imagine a funky bubblegum song playing instead of the “da dum da dum” you hear when the shark is in the water in the movie Jaws. Doesn’t work at all, does it? It’s the same with writing. The music has to be right or the mood is broken.

I write erotic romance. I have to really concentrate when I write a love scene for I want it to be right. I want the reader to feel everything my characters are feeling. Listening to songs with lyrics distracts me during those crucial scenes, so I turn to New Age instrumentals. The strings, harps, and flutes all go along with the sexy mood I’m trying to convey.

The following scene from my new book, Smokin’ Hot, is one I wrote while listening to Tony O’Connor. I can’t imagine a better composer to listen to while my heroine and hero fall in love.

Instead of her tears slowing, they flowed even faster. No matter how tightly he held her, he couldn’t keep her body from quivering.

“Rayna, stop crying. Please.”

“I c-c-can’t!”

Afraid she’d make herself sick, he thought about what he could do to help her. He used to be able to stop her tears when they were together. They weren’t together any longer, but perhaps what he used to do would still work.

He fisted a handful of her hair, pulled her head from his shoulder, and covered her lips with his.

Her body jerked as if he’d shocked her. Then, with a soft moan, she relaxed against him. Her arms tightened around his neck, her mouth softened beneath his. What started out as a kiss to halt her crying soon turned into lust.

A jolt passed through his body. He didn’t understand how one kiss with his ex-wife could affect him so strongly, yet it did. Perhaps because it had been much too long since he’d held a woman against him, had her hands run over him in passion. His dick lengthened, thickened, in preparation to take her.

Something that couldn’t happen.

Marcus ended the kiss. He stared into hazel eyes that remained wet from Rayna’s tears. She stared right back at him, her lips parted, her breathing sounding harsh and labored.

He should release her. He should step back and not touch her again.

Apparently, she disagreed with what he should do. She grabbed the back of his head and urged him into another kiss.

Instinct, memories, hormones—whatever—took over for Marcus. The taste he remembered flowed past his lips and over his tongue. He tightened his arms around Rayna until their bodies touched in as many places as possible. Holding her ass with one hand, he urged her closer until her belly cushioned his cock.

When she wrapped one leg around his thigh and hunched her mound against him, Marcus lost all ability to think. Gripping her ass tighter, he backed her the few steps to the front door. He hooked her legs over his arms and lifted her until he could press his hard cock to the warm place between her thighs.
